Does more detergent in your washing machine drum provide better wash results? What do you think?
Fact, or, myth? 🤔
A reasonable assumption, perhaps, on the face of it? 🤷♂️. However, using too much detergent can leave residue on your clothing which a regular rinse cycle may not be able to remove.
Another upshot of overdosing your washing machine with detergent is rapid re-soiling. If you find your clothing becomes discoloured or soiled prematurely, this may be a probable cause.
Excessive, undsissolved detergents can collect within the inner drum trapping bacteria, furthermore, creating unwelcome odours which are challenging to mitigate against.
In addition, and concerningly, excess detergent residues can cause skin irritation, or, damage the fabric of your clothing items. In the main, this applies to biological detergents only, where the chemical make up is harsher than non biological detergent.
Higher dosages of detergent can lead to excess lather which may increase washing times. As a result of this, the washing load may require additional rinsing cycles to remove the lather.
To ensure optimal performance follow the manufacturers instructions on the packaging of your detergent.
So, contrary to common belief overdosing your washing machine with detergent does more harm than good.
